Do Probiotics Stop Sugar Cravings?

February 14, 2018

Several of you asked if probiotics help sugar cravings. The Internet has lots of articles, but what’s the truth? Recently I met with my naturopath, Dr. Robert Madda, The Natural Path, and asked him his expert opinion. https://www.naturalpathmed.com/  Dr. Madda has been helping me with my nutrition, hormones and vitamins for more than five years and I feel well taken care of. Here’s what Dr. Madda says:

“Yes, Probiotics benefits have been proven effective in supporting immune function, reducing inflammation, promoting healthy digestion, as well as maintaining beautiful skin, especially when combined with prebiotics (fibers from vegetables and fruits).

“But first, I like to encourage my patients to eat good fruits and vegetables, limit animal protein and chew well. Because your skin and digestive system alone host about 2,000 different types of bacteria. And your good gut bacteria are already responsible for:

  • Producing vitamin B12, butyrate and vitamin K2
  • Crowding out bad microbes (bacteria, fungus, yeast, candida, and viruses)
  • Creating enzymes that destroy harmful bacteria
  • Stimulating secretion of IgA and regulatory T-cells, which support immune function
  • Helping to maintain or lose weight.”

Dr. Madda is happy to meet with you if you think your sugar cravings are out of hand. It’s tough in America because sugar is everywhere, but not impossible. Especially with a pro, like Dr. Madda.

Plus, next time you are here, I’m happy to show you the specific reflexes on the feet, ears and hands that may help curb your sugar cravings. One thing for sure, the best way I found to curb my sugar intake is to stop buying Haagen Dazs Coffee Ice Cream!
